This is a case study on the location selection process for public museums located in gun, provincial town of Korea. In constructing a public museum in the province, location should be selected very objectively as it may have a big influence on local history, culture, and economy. To select the most reasonable location for public museums, AHP ensuring objectivity was applied. Evaluation items were selected based on the recent precedent researches and reports. Hierarchy 1, of the selected evaluation items, were selected as the items related with 3 sites for physical environment of site, site securement and economic feasibility, and site development possibility and Hierarchy 2 were composed of 3 specific detailed items for each: total 9 items and used for evaluation. Experts who participated in the evaluation process conducted relative evaluation by item for given 3 candidates for location. When it comes to the evaluation results, objective results could be drawn without reflecting expert’s arbitrary or deflective values. Most experts stressed physical environment the most and showed similar objective evaluation results in the item-specific evaluation as well, as candidates for given 3 locations. In this case study, it was found that AHP, as an analysis method could be used as a very reasonable methodology for site selection.
