국문 초록 (Abstract)

Since it is apparent that our era has undergoing transitional period due to the impact such as information revolution, it is imperative to analyze and define the shifting characteristics of architecture. This study examines modern architecture at the turn of the 21st century from the perspective of post-humanism. It is found that architecture is being transformed in a new format and direction that reflects coexistence with non-human factors such as nature, machinery, and environment, the Internet revolution, compressed distance time, and real-time sharing of data. As the world is connected in real time, limited access to information has become instantly accessible, thereby allowing architects to share issues anywhere and implement design intentions in various ways beyond location restrictions. The pre-existing division of non-western bloc and female architects, cultural and industrial boundaries are disappearing, and definition of humanism is being expanded to include convergence of nature and machinery, c++ommunication, coexistence, network, and participation. Elimination of the monopoly on technology and information is enabling sharing of design and material methodology, and constructions for refugees and low-income families are quickly implemented and supported. In particular, architects are increasingly playing an important role in undertaking social problems such as shortage of housing, relief efforts for the poor, and urban hollowing.
